A hand-woven sympathy wreath. Made from Cornus alba, Salix babylonica, Corylus avellana with Helleborus, Galanthus and Skimmia. A beautiful tribute for a Woodland Burial.

Saint Valentine’s Day

Saint Valentine’s Day already! Where does the time go? Well that can only mean that spring is not far away and soon the air will be filled with the scent of Hyacinths and Crocus will be dancing amongst the lawns. As you can see – my floristry style is a natural one and to always remain as close to nature and the seasons as possible, which is why I don’t like using roses at a time of year when they’re not growing in the garden.
Cornus however… well this is in abundance in February and needs to be cut back to ensure that this season grows strong, vibrant stems that will be bursting with colour in the winter. To adorn my door I made a Cornus Heart (I felt the door looked so forlorn after treating it to a beautiful wreath at Christmas). Well, I had so many knocks at the door asking if I would mind making them one, as a gift to their loved ones this St. Valentine’s Day.

So… #AltValentines #CornusNotRoses

Christmas Door Wreath Workshop 2016

The Shed & The Beard working together…
Put that Michael Bublé Christmas CD on…
Get the mince pies in the oven…
The mulled wine simmering away…

Our Christmas door wreath workshop 2016 begins!

WOW! It was so much fun, nothing like getting your hands on all that lush spruce, ivy, & eucalyptus! We were really impressed with all that amazing creativity –  it was a wonderful evening of festive fun, wonderful people and wonderful mince pies! We had a packed hall which just added to the atmosphere, two helpful husband’s on standby who helped dish out the homemade mulled wine, mince pies and gingerbread.

Everyone created such wonderful wreaths, each showing their personality and it was just so amazing to see what people can do, people that had never tried to do anything like this before left with a beautiful wreath!!! We were very proud of everyone and I was particularly proud of what Jemma created this evening.
